The Two Rivers Theatre Company was formed in January 1997 and derives its name from
the confluence of the river Stour and the River Orwell in Suffolk, England.
The remit of the group is to perform two mainstream drama productions per year in
Spring and Autumn, performed at the Sir John Mills Theatre in Ipswich. These cover
a wide range of playwrights, including Shakespeare, Harold Pinter, Willy Russell,
Oscar Wilde, Terry Pratchett and Agatha Christie. We don’t perform musical drama,
(although we have some talented singers, dancers and musicians in our midst!) concentrating
instead on plays of all types. These include a wide variety of styles from modern
farce (‘Noises Off’), comedy (‘Educating Rita’), murder mystery (‘Cards on the Table’),
through to poignant historical pieces (‘Terra Nova’ and ‘The Accrington Pals’).
Rehearsals usually take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Sproughton Church
Two Rivers has a floating membership numbering around 35, mostly drawn from other
amateur dramatics groups in the area. The group is a non-profit making organisation
and a registered charity number 1080856.
New members are always welcome. We are a friendly bunch who enjoy getting together
for meals out and theatre visits. If you would like to join us and participate either
on stage or backstage, or if you would just like to make a comment about any of the
plays you may have seen, please email us at
